2006 BANGKOK REUNION UPDATE
The 2006 Bangkok reunion will be held Thursday 21 September to Sunday 24 September 2006 at a the Twin Towers Hotel.  Hosting the reunion will be AESEA (The Association of Expatriates in Southeast Asia), which is composed largely of former Thai employees of Air America, CASI, USAID, Embassy, USIS, IVS, U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy, SKY, SKY FAG, Thai SGU, etc. There are also American members of the local group, of which Phil Dreith, Les Strouse, and Mac Thompson will be assisting the Thai side with the reunion organization.

This will be, as was the 2002 Return to Southeast Asia reunion, an "everybody is invited" affair and we hope to get a good turnout from all who served in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. It's on!!  Web address: http://aesea.bangkok1.net   Hotel and reunion registration forms will be posted at the website, check it now and then for further updates.

Even at this early date, we'd appreciate an alert as to who and how many might be attending.  Please send an email to: AESEA2006@yahoo.com   With a note that you're:  "coming for sure";  "thinking about it but not yet sure";  "can't make it."  FYI, you can change your mind at any time....
Hope to see you here!!!

 Events Info

See photo page of people with out stickers. New photo of Warren in New Orleans.

Photos from the 2005 American Legion National Convention in Hawaii are located HERE.  See the flag at the site.  There is interesting writing on it for CP1 members.

Major Mark displaying CP1 sticker.

We will soon start contest on who displays best CP1 sticker location.

When you stick one or see one, send JRL a photo!

(Note, photo modified nametag for OPSEC reasons. CP1 will not put in-sandbox names on the web.)

Below is note from Major Mark.

Here's my friend Maj A (OPSEC)  (who is a darn fine shot with the pistol, the AK, and the PKM machine gun) and me behind my redneck transport. Don't have a gun rack in the back- yet, but with all my Good Stuff on the back it is easy to find in the parking lot. A liberal tried to peel off my NRA license plate....No joy! I need to get an "Ask me how to join the VFW" sticker to top it all off. I have the Gunsite raven on the front plate.

Maj Abdullah is carrying a Sig-Sauer 9mm, which is one of the standard pistols in the Iraqi Army. I, of course, am carrying (concealed in a Galco rig) a modified US M1911A1. This last part is for you shooters out there....

This page is for locating our various PGP Keys for others, for thoses who have or desire semi-secure communication. (JRL, as a retired CI guy does not believe any thing is secure, I know better.)

JRL, Webmaster and Vice Cmdr's PGP Key is located HERE

IF you are overseas and do not want to call USA to give Fred your credit card number or an address change, this might be another way to do it. I am finally back in USA and can make cheaper calls to Fred

The top of the current longevity chart after we lost two that exceeded them last year are:

Col Lewis L Millett WWII, MOH Korea, 54 years

                   William Dereschuk  Korea, 53 years
                   Russell Morgan  Korea, 51 years

A bit of data on COL Millett:

 http://www.medalofhonor.com/LewisMillett.htm
"COL Millett became heavily involved in the Special Operations community following his service with the 101st. He helped establish the Vietnamese Ranger School and the Commando training program in Laos before moving to the Command and General Staff College."

Jeff Johnson died Wednesday, January 19, 2005. Services were held beginning the evening of Wednesday, 19 Jan, and for the next five days at Wat Chonlaprathan in Pak Kret. The cremation took place at the same Wat on the afternoon of Monday, 24 January.

Jeff was the 'facilities' man for Air America, putting together most of the STOL airstrips up country and stayed on in Thailand where he was involved in manufacturing and other business activities. "Ole" was at his Christmas Party in BKK this year and he appeared to be in fair shape then.  He was one of the principals in staging the 'Return to SEA 2002' meeting which resulted in a $900+ donation to the Post building fund and was active, along with Mac in setting up the event planned for 2005.

 Ooops!  From Fred!

Seems that I put a typo in the last Poop Sheet.  Standard rooms are $39 on week days but are $89 on Fri / Sat not $59 as I had in the Poop Sheet.  Several calls pointed out my error.
