Howdy,

A note to address some questions that have been raised.

Because of our geographical dispersion, we are not able to have CP1 Legion Rider Chapter meetings, nor will we pay dues. However, some of us attend various MC rallies around the country and we will make an effort to get together for diner or a drink. For example, my wife and I normally attend the Sturgis rally in August. If any of you are planning to be up there, send an email and we’ll arrange something.

Joining the CP1 Riders affords you an opportunity to show your veteran affiliations. I have worn colors on my last several motorcycle trips and enjoy visiting with the people who come up to talk. The back of the vest should display the National ALR patch (You can order our version of the 3 line American Legion Rider patch at www.americanlegionriders.net for $39.95. If you want a CP1 dragon patch, you can order one from me for $17.50. It should be sewed on the back of the vest under the national patch. How you do the front of the vest is up to you. If you’d like to see how I set mine up, send me an email.

By National ALR rules, a member from any AL Post can join any Legion Rider Chapter. Normally, our Chapter members would belong to CP1 but there are occasions when an exception would be appropriate. If you ride with someone who belongs to a local AL post and for one reason or another cannot join CP1, you could invite them to join our Chapter.

I would stress that we are neither a “Motorcycle Club” nor an “MC.”  We are the Legion Riders, a recognized non-territorial veteran’s fraternal organization. There are certain protocols in the motorcycle world and we do not want to inadvertently create issues. If you are not familiar with these protocols and would like more information, send me an email.
